Williams ECE OPEN HOUSE Douglas College Early Childhood Education students are holding an Open House at the New Westminster campus, 8th Ave. & McBride, Sunday, May 6, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Purpose of the event, in celebration of the International Year of the Child, is to acquaint the public with all aspects of child development and education in the 0-5 year bracket. The theme will be the development of the pre-school child, which will be illustrated in booths displaying such activities as music and move- ment, art, literature and language, science and social studies. Other displays will feature the professional quality of the ECE program, the importance of children's play, and the International Year of the Child. The day's activities will also include films and guest speakers on subjects related to children's needs and rights. Supervised facilities will be available for 3-6 year olds while their parents visit the open house. College administrators and ECE faculty will be greeting guests who are expected to include college council and city council members, and other dignitaries from the communities the college serves - Surrey, Richmond, Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Langley and New Westminster. Everyone is welcome to either drop in for a few minutes or to spend 2 as long as possible. Light refreshments will be served.
