Paul: I think fate brought us together. BE: More specifically, what happened? Paul: I ran an ad. Actually, I got together with Yoko Ono first of all, and then we started jamming. We put an ad in the paper, The Georgia Straight. Got the rest of the guys together, and the rest is history. Yoko: Paul wrote a bunch of songs in jail. About how shitty it is to be in jail. He start- ed a band and called it The Fight. Paul: Yeah, when I was 19 I robbed a bank, and I got sentenced to four-and-a- half years in jail, so I sat there and wrote a bunch of punk songs and got out and formed this band. BE: Do you think being in the pen influenced you as a songwriter? Paul: Yeah, a lot of my songs have to do with a lot of experiences in the pen, or just feelings of everything that’s involved with it. The whole experience definitely affected it. Specifically Travis Barker, Trey Cool from Green Day. I’m proud to be in a punk band as a drummer, because that’s fuckin’ punk. Brandon: I[ hate, like, all music...and I’m just doing this for aversion therapy; my psychiatrist says it’s a good thing to do. Jeff: Anything from Slayer to Frank Sinatra, man. BE: Right on. Do you have a message for the kids that are reading this? Brandon: Do drugs. Paul: Quit fuckin’ reading. Yoko: Play with matches. BE: Anything to add? Jeff: Yeah, come to our shows, we need to get paid. Paul: Come down to our shows. Girls without penises are encouraged to come down and hit on Yoko. Brandon: Not the hairy ones. Yoko: Not hairy and without penises, I’m not picky. NIGHTCLUB The original “ Thirsty Thursdays” $2 cover & $2 Drinks!
