Doors Open, Smiles Wide Douglas College definitely feels more at home in Coquitlam after more than 5,000 visitors dropped by and got acquainted during the David Lam Campus Open House on October 18 and 19. The Open House featured more than 40 displays and presentations, offering everything from academic and financial planning information to computer contests and hands-on science exhibits. New Westminster based programs such as General Nursing, Music, and Print Futures also took part in the community event. The event attracted Tri-Cities residents of all ages. Many secondary school students took advantage of a BC curriculum- planning day to attend on the opening Friday, families with children visited Saturday, and seniors attended bright and early on both days. Response to the Open House—from local community members, merchants, organizations, teachers, and College departments—was excellent. From the personalized campus tours to the interactive displays, we were a hit! Thanks to everyone who made this event such a success.
