Meet our new coaches and a grand hello to the returning ones: Men's Soccer Replacing Chris Bowcott is Peter McCluskie who comes to us fresh from coaching a very successful women's team up in Williams Lake. Peter has his own philosophy for the game of soccer and part of that is being fit - (wait until he sees the out-of-shape guys and realizes he hag three weeks to whip them into shape). Our first league game is September 29 at 1300 hours at Sapperton Park. Women's Volleyball Welcome to Allan Singh who is also coaching at Carson Graham. Great for our recruiting! Allan has a lot of plans for improving the skills and fitness of our team members and I wish him all the luck and hard work it will take. First tournament is November 24 at B.C.I1.T. Men's Ice Hockey Merv Bodnarchuk has doubtlessly made himself known to many of you by now, and for those of you he hasn't met, Merv is the intrepid coach of the men's ice hockey team. Home arena is Port Moody; however, the first game is October 15, at Queen's Park against the Vancouver Canuck Oldtimers. Gordie Howe and Bobby Hull will be the guest stars of our Royals team and NO, they haven't enrolled at Douglas in order to play hockey. This is a benefit game in order to raise money for the team. Support us please, and get your tickets from myself, any of the team members or at any V.T.C./ C.B.0O. outlets. Tickets are $9.00 each with reserved seating. Men's Basketball Steve Beauchamp is returning and looking forward to a successful year. Fourth in the league last year, simply means we stand a good chance of improvement this year. Douglas will host the Totem Cham- pionships here in March 1985 for both men and women. Women's Basketball Richard Norman and assistant Coach Mike Garisto have worked their PR bones to death this past year and pulled in 23 bodies to tryouts this week. Phenominal! Looks like another 100% improvement. This year as the team gears up to host the Canadian Nationals here in March 1986. (continued )
