Vib Jose of the Registrar’s Office in Maple Ridge is pleased to report that her ninth grandchild, Jenna Jade, was born October 26. “I’m thrilled because she’s one of only two who live nearby,” she adds. From 35 degrees to freezing... in one day Administration’s Margaret Murray has returned from a whirlwind vacation, taking in sights from the glass towers of Hong Kong to the beaches of Thailand. She describes her trip as a study in contrasts, between the rapid pace of Asian cities, the mystical “Thai Brigadoon” she found near Chiang Mai, and life in Canada. And the contrasts aren’t just in the weather. “It takes some people three hours to get to work in Bangkok,” says Margaret, ‘and I saw a pumpkin for sale in Hong Kong for $62 Cdn. Continuing Education’s Geraldine Murphy participated in the recent opening of the Tzu Chi Institute for Complementary and Alternative Medicine at Vancouver Hospital. The Institute will promote health and wellness through scientific evaluation of medical alternatives, and help integrate effective approaches into mainstream health care. Geraldine sees a complementary role for Douglas College in the development of education and public information programs. School’s out for Doyle... Christine Doyle is taking a temporary leave from the Centre for Educational Technology from January to April, 1997.
