From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the bandshell, host Candice James will lead the night whatever the weather. 2014 Summer Movie series (June 11 and every Friday after) Every Friday night there will be screenings of films old and new at Queen’s Park Stadium in New West. This year’s lineup includes recent films like Frozen, Muppets Most Wanted, and Despicable Me 2, as well as classics like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Doors are always at 7 p.m. while the show starts at 8:30 p.m. New Westminster Firefighters’ Charitable Society Shred-A-Thon (July 12) Have piles of unwanted course material and old essays? Feeling charitable? The annual Shred-A-Thon takes place at Canada Games Pool parking lot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring all your unwanted papers and files, shred ‘em, then take part in the barbecue and entertainment (maybe even go for a swim after)! All proceeds go towards funding the New Westminster Firefighters’ Charitable Society.
