UJ3RK5)yet few, if any, _could capture the feeling or style of the more refined European sounds. Madeline Morris’ clear and strong voice sounds almost mechanical as it olends into and around the synthesised rhythms while the three keyboards This is far different from oands such as Gary Numan’s, who use synthesizers to overpower the more traditional instru- ments. MTMTNME?*THE FINAL SONG ON THE EP, isa super-production job that also deserves radio airplay. With the success of bands such as Soft Cell and Simple Minds, It should be only a matter of time before Moev receives some well- deserved airtime. The best quality of the record is the recording, done at Brothers Studios in Vancouver and the produc- tion work by Moev and.J ack Curry. This has resulted in the cleanest, clearest sound | have ever heard ona locally produced record. Moev will be playing at __ the Commodore this Friday, opening for Magic Dragon, an ‘‘art rock’’ band that sounds overly-reminiscent of Pink Floyd and Rhythm Mission, formerly AKA. Wallis and his band are an internationally known Dixie- iand Jazz band originally from England but now oased in Norway. The Hot Jazz Society isa non-profit society dedicated to furthering the appreci- ation and enjoyment of jazz. _ They do this by having live | \2and can really make the jazz performances six nights a week with jam sessions and special guiests (rom outside the province.
