But the library could only come up with a portrait of Queen Victoria," she laughed. Meanwhile, down in Gresko’s office, Bill Day was doing his best to keep up with the lengthy list of items Gresko had left for him. “If I’d had more time, I'd have arranged for him to attend a history class on the Winnipeg General Strike. He could have taken his ukulele along and the students would have in- doctrinated him with union songs. He’s a good sport, and | think he would have done it.” Gresko, who is on a lively campaign to get more computers for staff, purposely asked Day to type out an exam on the faculty typewriter. “I think he sur- vived it,” she laughed. Day reports that he had pick- ed up on the “delicate malice” involved in having him use the typewriter. “Jacqueline has to type up all her exams, so I did too. I think I did a good job, and I cleaned up on her grammar and spelling. I’d give her an ”A" for content and “B” for grammar and spell- ing. During his day with Arts and Humanities, Day met with numerous faculty members regarding management issues, he dealt with the progress of the theatre’s Inherit the Wind production, answered phone messages and offered advice. “Jacqueline outlined a heavy obstacle course for me, but I think I made it through all right,” he laughed. “T enjoyed our job trade. I think there should be a couple of job trades a year where I could offer myself up for auction and spend a week trying different roles.” “T felt it was a great idea and a useful experience - you receive insights into different pressures, and it is always heal- thy to walk in someone else’s shoes.” President For A Day was part of the Douglas College Foundation’s week long effort to raise money and awareness about student aid. Over 600 raf- fle tickets were sold. The Foundation Fair week raised over $35,000 from col- lege events and community donations. The funds will be matched by the provincial government and go toward stu- dent scholarships and bursaries. For more information, con- tact the Douglas College Foundation at local 4801. 6
