Enrollment in Non-Credit Courses Douglas College's enrollment in non- credit courses continued to climb dramatically last fall. Community Programs and Services showed a dramatic increase, with a 22 per cent growth. Registration jumped from 4,062 in the fall of 1983 to 4,957, up 895. The number of courses programmed also grew to 312 from 263 over the pre- vious fall semester, while actual course cancellations only went to 20 per cent of those offered from a previous figure of 19 per cent. According to Community Programs and Services Dean, Jim Doerr, who was pleased about the growth in registra- tions, the 20 per cent cancellation rate means the College is trying out new and innovative programming. “Programming the right courses in the present external enviornment is a very difficult task but according to our numbers, it appears our program- mers are doing it right." Average class size in the Community Programs area is 19.90, up slightly from 19°..16.
