Students are applying for the fall semester, and we’ ve seen great interest in the David Lam Campus in Coquitlam. Many potential students are hoping that the new campus will improve accessibility at the Thomas Haney Centre or allow them to complete their studies without traveling to New Westminster. As well, recent student loan workshops and writing assessment testing sessions have been well attended. On May 8, Paul Wong, one of the consultants hired to report on safety issues at the College, met with staff members to discuss safety concerns at the Maple Ridge Campus. The isolation of many offices and classrooms during evenings in July and August appears to be the primary safety concern. We hope that some of the recommendations made by Paul’s group will resolve the significant safety concerns expressed by Thomas Haney Centre staff and students.
