Volunteers Wanted for Work in Third World Countries The United Nations Volunteers Programme (UNV) has been in operation since 1971, and the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) was requested in 1974 to handle recruitment of Canadians for the Programme, At present there are some 225 U.N. volunteers working in 40 Third World countries on projects sponsored by the U.N. To date, WUSC has helped increase Canadian participation in UNV from 3 volunteers last year to 13, and is now seeking to recruit more Canadians.
