"te Upcomthg stu Le On caropus arts Things are already starting to get busy here at the good old C of D. The Douglas Art Gallery’s first show, Digital Renaissance ended February 3. Their second show, Bare Reflections will offer “Three female expressions of human forms.” The show will run until March 10. The art gallery is located on the fourth floor, across from the Theatre. The DCSS’s movie night has become the DCSS movie nights. Movies will be shown at 4:00 and 6:00 on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Showing on Wednesday February 8 is Clear and Present Danger and Indiana Jones and The Lost Ark, and on February 9, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Be sure to catch the Indiana Jones trilogy - it'll be an adventure you won’t soon Sees (plus you’ll be able to B.S. for some bonus points in history class). The Douglas College music department continues its tradition of free concerts here at Douglas with their Thursday feature, Noon At New West. On February 9, their will be something called The Brassical Class, featuring Wayne Ablitt on Trombone and Tara Clarke on Piano. The next Noon at New West concert is on February 23, featuring Bruce Vogt on Piano. All Noon at New West Concerts begin at 12:30 and are held in the DC Performing Arts Theatre. The music department will also be holding a concert on Valentine’s day, featuring the guitar virtuosity of Norbert Kraft. Tix are $10, and the fun begins at 8:00 in the Theatre. The next reading will be a part of the Writers in Residence series, and features mystery writer Bunny Wright. She will be on campus the first week of March. Studio 58 at Langara will be presenting The Company, a “theatrical - experience” based on the music of Prokofiev. The show will run from Feb. 9 to March 5 call 323-5227 for info. Massey Theatre will be host to the Persona(s) - Spring Tour ‘95, in conjunction with the Pacific Cinémathéque. The purpose of this “tour” is to bring films that are less accessible to the New Westminster area. Showtime is 7:30, and tickets are $5.00 for students. You’re too late to get a series pass (the first show, Crooklyn, was shown Feb. 1, but if you hurry, you can get a pass for any 5 movies for $20.00. The next movie is Ley Lines, by Vancouver filmmaker Patricia Gruben, on Feb. 15. The New Orchestra Workshop presents an exploration of alternative jazz every Sunday at the Cafe Deux Soleils, down on Commercial and 5th. For those of you waiting expectantly for Pat Methany on February 27, (1 have class that night. Bugger! Bugger! Bugger!) a nice warm up would be the Billy Cobham Quartet at Richards on Richards. Cobham is an amazing | drummer, and he’ll be at Richards on February 15. On February 22, Beautiful Losers, featuring members from our very own Douglas College, will be playing at the Hungry Eye.
