External Matters - Municipal On October 28, His Worship, Mayor Tom Baker, of New Westminster visited the College for informal discussions with Mr. Bill Emerton, Chairman of the Board and myself. We were joined by Jim Doerr and Randi Duke who provided information to the Mayor on aspects of the College's community activities and programs. The Mayor was given a tour of the building, with a special emphasis on the Vocational, Laboratory, and Performing Arts facilities. He informed us that the Council] was well aware of the significance of the College to New Westminster, and that we could be assured of a welcome reception at such time as we wished to make a presentation to the City Council. Because of the events of the week of November 6th, I arranged for the cancellation of the visits of two MP's who were to visit the College. Rescheduling of visits by MP's and MLA's is now underway. External Matters - Education Between October 25 and 27 I attended a Federal Government sponsored National Consultation on Skill Development Leave in Hull, Quebec. I have obtained a considerable amount. of information on federal programs, and on prospects for the future, which I will be circu- lating to members of the administration. Anyone else interested in the materials available is welcome to check with my office.
