THOMPSON BERWICK PRATT & PARTNERS ARENT & PLANNERS 1553 ROBSON STREET VANCOUVER BRITISH COLUMBIA V6G 1C6 (604) 682-5411 1985 May 31 Mr, Mid. OF Connor Project Administrator B.C. TRANSIT Rapid Transit Project office #874 - 1055 Dunsmuir Street P.O. Box 49297 - Bentail Pour Vancouver, B.C. V7X 1P6 Dear Mr. O'Connor: Re: Market Research Study - New Westminster I enclose copy of a market research study which has been prepared by students of Douglas College in New Westminster. As you will recall, at the close of our studies on behalf of B.C. Transit concerning redevelopment potential in and about both the 8th Street and future 4th Street Stations areas in New Westminster, I approached various planning agencies which might be concerned with the prospect of organizing some inter-jurisdictional planning/promotion in aid jof oppor tunities for commercial development obviously flowing out of ‘the advent of the ALRT project. At that time it was not convenient for all of the key players, who would otherwise be interested, to contribute in such a strategy. Believing that time and timing were important, I took it upon myself to discuss the possibilities of seeking co-operation from students of Douglas College with both President Bill Day and Mayor Baker. They, in turn, helped me with further arrange- ments. fo Although we initially tried to involve building, real estate and tourism, etc., technologies into our scheme so as to more fully utilize the marketing group's results, it turned out that marshalling student forces in such a comprehensive manner was unrealistic.
