"It’s a chance for college stu- dents, high school students, graduates, and anyone else seeking a new job or career change to get valuable, first-hand information from people already working in the business world,” says Daminato. Exhibitors will include repre- sentatives from banks and financial institutions, government and profes- sional associations, accounting firms, hospitals, small businesses, and major corporations. "There will be a large number of prospective employers all in one place at one time," says Daminato. "That makes job exploration a lot easier." Participants at the fair will meet the people doing the hiring, "and they'll find out what skills employers are looking for now and into the 21st century," adds Daminato. "It’s a wonderful oppor- tunity to make important business contacts and to find out how to go about getting the job of your dreams." Academic advisors and counsel- lors from Douglas College will be available to provide information about College programs and employment possibilities. The cam- pus Career Resource Centre will also be available. "People should come prepared to ask questions about training, promotion possibilities, and future employment," says counsellor Beth Morris. "Getting this kind of first- hand information is invaluable." The Alumni Association is offer- ing two door prizes to fair par- ticipants — draws for a free credit course or non-credit course at Douglas College. The 2nd Annual Douglas Col- lege Career Fair takes place Monday, March 26 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the concourse at the New Westminster campus. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
