Reprint of letter to Bill Day from Masaharu Inabetsu, Presi- dent of St. Andrew’s University (Momoyama Gakiun Daigaku) in Japan, dated October 25, 1988. Dear President Day: Thank you very much for the letter, which I received on October 5, and I am very sorry for the delay of answering it. I am very pleased to announce that Mr. Terry Loughrey has done an outstanding job here both for our students and for our university. It is impossible to enumerate everything he has done for us, but everyone in our International Centre has a good word to say for him. Here are only a few favorable comments from the International Centre: his careful planning and hard work was reflected in our Sum- mer Intensive English Course well done and everything in the class ran very smoothly (Mr. Saiki, his teaching partner, admires him for his incredible teaching method and enthusiasm for the work) : he kindly followed up the students who returned from Douglas and his expert advice to the students, who are in Douglas now, has been in- valuable : his speech for our students, "A Short Comparison Between Canada and America", won such a high reputation that they asked him to give another speech about Canada ... and so forth. As you know, of course, much more about his captivating per- sonality, I daren’t speak of his courtesy and efficiency any more. You probably understand, however, how much I appreciate the help he gave and what he did for us. Would you pass on my sincere com- pliments to Mr. Terry Loughrey, please? Everything seems to be in good shape for the start of our new Faculty of Literature next spring. We do expect to maintain closer relationships and cooperation between our two institutions than before. I hope things go well for you personally. Yours sincerely, Masaharu Inabetsu, President
