THAT the Public Schools Act and the Universities Act be re-written to provide that all apnointments to supervisory and administrative positions be for a limited term, andxith that the salary for such positicns be no higher than the teaching post would command, with contract renewal,if desired, by the governing council of the institution, Although this resolttion was not debated or carried in plenary su Sessivi it will be re-introduced, in all probability, next year. The implications of a resolution such as this taxym for Douglas College are obvious. THAT the Provincial Department of Education immediately adopt policies to ensure that: - programs of schools and post-secondary institutions be mi made flexible enough to accommodate women's life patterns, specifically: - that part-time status be accorded the same rights and xkakux benefits as are are accorded to full-time faculty, students and staff, - that there be no penalties incurred by those who interrupt their education and that part-time students be allowed to pay a pro-rata fee, - that free user-controlled child care facilities be provided and open during all the hours in which the institutions are in session. THAT the Provincial Government enact legislation to provide sufficient funds so that texts and curricula are replaced by new materials which depict men and women in equal roles ina variety of jobs and activities, And that all lesson aids and courses of study be revised to ensure that a contemporary picture of women is provided, including a history of women's struggles for equality, where applicable. A fairly lengthy resolution was passed which stated in essence that all institutions receiving direct or indirect provincial government monies would be required t» file with the Gowarnment an Affirmative Action Plan"detailing definite procedures leading to full equality between men and women in all aspacts of employment and education, including hiring, promot!=n, superannuation, trainthg and re-traingi. \ and access to jobs",
