Presenting the award is Maurice's family, wife Grace (right front), son Kenji (right back) and daughter Sarah (left). Maurice, a Douglas College Creative Writing instructor and founder of Pearls, passed away December 29, 1998. His friends, colleagues and family members established this award in his memory, presented annually to a promising Douglas College creative Nominations being accepted now for College Awards of Excellence and Merit The Educational Excellence subcommittee of Education Council has issued a call for nominations for Awards of Excellence and Merit for members of the Douglas College community. Students, faculty, staff, and administrators are full partners in the learning process and all institutional activities that facilitate that process. Academic Performance and Student Appeals were previously administrative policies but because the issues they address are specified under the College and Institute Act (1996) to be powers of Education Council, they have now been adopted as educational policies and revised accordingly.
