The Crisis Centre provides a 24 hour, 7 day a week telephone counselling service for the Surrey, North Delta, and White Rock areas. The lines are staffed by trained men and women able to listen in a caring and non-judgemental manner. _ A one year committment of three hours per week is required. This type of volunteer work experience would be especially of interest to those in- dividuals who may be thinking of a career in.,counselling or the social sciences.” The 40 hours training affords access to, and knowledge of, many community agencies and ser- vices, thereby providing a comprehen- sive introduction to the field of social sciences.
