HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID from the I|.M.S. staff BOOKSTORE CLOSURE The Bookstore will be closed April 2 and 3 for inventory. RARE PERFORMANCE Hear the unheard of when the Douglas College Choral Society and Orchestra perform on April 4th and 5th at the Douglas College Performance Theatre. The concert will include two works by Cherubini and Beethoven which have rarely been performed. The first selec- tion will be Beethoven's Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage Op. 112, a short descriptive work that takes the listener on a peaceful sea voyage. The final piece will be Cherubini's Requiem Mass in C Minor, which may be making its musical debut in the Lower Mainland. This beautiful but simple work was written for the 25th anniversary of King Louis XVI's ex- ecution. The performance is dedicated to the memory of Cherubini’s genius which is largely unrecognized. The program also includes Beethoven's Choral Fantasia Op. 80 with a piano solo by Ellen Silverman. Silverman, a graduate of the renowned Eastman School of Music in New York State, is the co-ordinator of the Piano Department at Douglas College and she has earned an international reput- ation for her performances in North America and Europe. The Douglas College Choral Society, a four year old group comprised of College students and community singers, will be performing with the Orchestra which includes Douglas College faculty members, students and musicians from throughout the Lower Mainland. The performance begins at 8:00 p.m. in the Performance Theatre. Tickets are $8.00 for general admission and $6.00 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at the Douglas College bookstore and at the door. For reser- vations or information, call the Douglas College Box Office at 520- 5488.
