"The money will be used to expand the amount of computer hardware in the training lab," said Chris Jenkins, a White Rock resident and instructor with the program. The Transition Training Pro- gram serves adults with severe multiple disabilities at Douglas College. The thrust of the pro- gram is to assist program participants to make the transi- tion from instructional living to more independent living and employment. Computers form an integral part of the program as "they can be adapted in ways that can com- pensate for limited movements and means of communications of individuals," said Jenkins. With this support, program par- ticipants are able to learn the skills that can lead to stable, community-based employment. Contact the Douglas College Foundation, local 4813, for fur- ther information about the Transition Training program or to make a donation. ‘RR i I ii ELI SN SI 3
