Through extensive research I studied the psychological, social, cultural and spiritual aspects of dying, grieving and learning to let go. J attended international conferences on palliative care and travelled to India to observe the funeral practices and to study meditation techniques to relieve suffering and reduce pain. Experiencing grief and dealing with loss, whether from loss of work, a relationship break-up ora loved one dying, deeply affects our ability to handle our daily situations. I learned that the expression of grief will take different forms in different cultures and may differ between men and women, children and adults. I have learned that grieving is a natural process and there is more than one ‘right way’ to grieve.” Watch for a Douglas Development afternoon session early in the new year.
