-2- ‘It is expected that the person appointed shall possess the following qualifications: a Bachelors degree from a recognized university in Education or Public Administration; preferably a Masters Degree in Special Education, Educational Administration or Public Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. at least five years successful experience in teaching or working in an Educational environment and at least three years successful administrative experience at the school and/or school district levels and/or provincial level. a sound working knowledge of the B.C. school and education system; a thorough theoretical and working knowledge of special education; demonstrated administrative capability and a high level of organizational skill as well as the skill to manage and supervise personnel effectively; demonstrated high level of consistency and accountability in decision-making; practical skills which may be applied in resolving educational problems experiences by pupils, parents, teachers and administrators; knowledge and practical application skills related to the utilization of micro- computer technology in administrative/management areas; an understanding and appreciation of various educational points of view; ability to work effectively with others; The Manager position is a public service management position excluded from union membership.
