As Douglas College ESL Instruc- tor Mordecai Briemberg points out, the horrific images have faded for us, but for many people in the Middle East, the effects of the war are anything but over. "Once we disconnect from the TV, the war is over for us, but generations of people were directly affected," says Briemberg. "Five million people were made refugees." Briemberg has edited a book called It Was, lt Was Not- Essays and Art on the War Against Iraq. Royalties from the book, published by New Star Books in Vancouver, will go to humanitarian aid for Iraqi civilians in the form of medicine. "It’s intended for people who are | troubled by what they saw, and who are interested in seeing that there are peaceful solutions to conflict in the Middle East."
