I know you must be asking yourself at this point why exactly
‘cakes’ are worthy of a special issue? Well, that’s a hard one to
explain. I think the most accurate explanation is a combo answer.
First off, cake is good. I like cake. You like cake. Hell, even
your diabetic Aunt Beatrice likes cake, but she isn’t supposed to
eat any. Beyond that, the hardworking staff here at the OP are
somewhat tired of special issues focused around ‘Buy Nothing
Day,’ ‘Valentines Day’, Festivus, and what have you. And lastly,
Kevin Lalonde continues to be employed here, and that afro’d
kid has some wacky ideas when you let him speak. And so, here
we are, ushering forth for your reading pleasure the 2007 Other
Press ‘Salute To Cakes!’. Sit back and enjoy. And good luck not
blasting your last few bucks on sugar-based snacks in the cafeteria
once you get into the content.
