Representatives of the People’s Republic of China’s Labor Ministry visited Douglas College on June 8. Chinese delegation pondering College Officials of the Ministry of Labor from the People’s Republic of China visited Douglas College on June 8 as part of a fact-finding tour leading to the development of five new vocational training facilities in that country. Supported by the World Bank, the $40 million pilot project will support training and education in industry and labor market development. Canadian institutions are among those being considered to be contracted to offer expertise and technical support for the project. “Tt is highly probable that Canada, through the ACCC, will be invited to participate in the project. In this regard, Douglas College was referred to the visitors on the basis of its experience in similar World Bank projects in Eastern Europe and the reputation it has developed internationally in recent years,” says John McKendry, Douglas College Vice-President, Instruction. McKendry added the College community will be informed of any developments in this project as they occur.
