a Nee ol) .\ mi acag ae The Field Manager's Postion (up to 18 months term) Background Required: The Field Manager should have the following background: - Experience in preparing and delivering instruction programs overseas in a developing country. - Experience in delivering vocational or trades training programs at the college level and/or industry, with related administrative experience. - Experience in some aspect of forestry products manufacturing, e.g. sawmill or pulpmill experience. - Experience in developing tailor-made programs of instruction for small groups. - General curriculum design and development experience. The Field Manager functions as the counterpart to the Principal of the Samarinda College, overseeing Canadian staff and inputs. The Field Manager will be responsible for the successful management on site of in- plant and mobile training in the Kalimantan area. This will involve: - Establishing training agreements with local industry, Ministry of Manpower authorities and the college administration. - Overseeing and managing all aspects of short-term training including determination of training requirements, transmission of requirements to Victoria, performing a "traffic control" function for short-term advisors coming and going from the site, developing training contracts with specific firms, evaluating training effectiveness, overseeing design and development of curriculum packages and managing project funds. - designing an evaluation component for the project. A significant additional responsibility is the overseeing of translation of British Columbian curriculum materials into Bahasa Indonesia and the development of training programs based on those materials. In conjunction with the Victoria office, the Field Manager will also be responsible for arranging in-Canada training for instructors from the Samarinda College. Under the terms of his contract, the Field Manager will be personally accountable and responsible for the administration of project funds in Samar inda. The expected date of commencement is January 1, 1987.
