DISTIN GUISHED SERVICE AWARDS Nomination Guidelines The 1985 Distinguished Service Awards are for people or organizations who have distinguished themselves in the field of Multiculturalism. Nominations are open to all individuals and organizations who have been outstanding in their service to the promotion of Multiculturalism in the Province of British Columbia. Awards Categories A) DR. NORA LOZOVSKY AWARD Honours the individual or organization who has implemented and fostered educational programs which have increased the awareness and understanding of multiculturalism in the community. B) DR. WILLIAM BLACK AWARD Honours the individual or organization who has worked towards the development and advancement or application of ways and means to lessen racial discrimination in British Columbia, C) PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD Honours the individual in public service who has contributed towards the advancement of multicultural activities in the area of Human Rights, Education, Media, Folklore or Community in British Columbia. D) HUMANITARIAN AWARD Honours the individual who has contributed to the promotion of multiculturalism by organizing multicultural activities i.e. conferences, seminars, festivals, workshops and or | by supporting visual and performing arts in the multicultural field or by any other means fostering the ideal of multiculturalism. Criteria Any individual or organization may nominate persons in any of the four categories. To be eligible, a nominee must a) have made a contribution to the category in British Columbia, and b) have agreed to be nominated. The nominator is responsible for securing permission from the nominee. Nominees can be entered in one category only. Nomination is open to any individual, except employees, board members of the Society and members of the Distinguished Service Award Committee for 1985. Selection Nominations will be selected by the Selection Subcommittee of the Distinguished Service Awards Committee of the Society consisting of the Past Presidents of the Society and previous years’ recipients. RECIPIENTS OF THE AWARDS WILL BE ANNOUNCED AND PRESENTED AT THE FUND RAISING DINNER AND DANCE TO BE HELD AT THE HYATT REGENCY HOTEL ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 1985 AT 7:00 PM.
