Royals rout Rebels

It might have looked like the the Royals’ bench for the time

end of the world for the
Douglas College Royals hock-
ey team during the first period

of their January 12th game
against the Red River Rebels
from Winnipeg, but they came
back to beat them. 10-5 ina
very convincing fashion.

Rebels coach Gary Whyte,
a very intense individual,
made sure that his players
were fresh and had four or five
set plays that led directly to
the first three goals of the
game at the Port Moody
Arena.

Two or three minutes into
the second period, there was a
fight between two players that
resulted in one game miscond-
ucts to both parties involved.

In the second period, the
Rebels exploded with two
quick goals, which silenced

being. The Royals then scored
two goals themselves to close
out the scoring in the second
period,

In the third period, the
Royals turned the game a-
round playing the way they
are capable of and _ totally
destroyed the opposition.
With just three minutes left in
the game | heard the coach of
the Rebels say ‘‘Don’t worry
about it boys, we will get these
guys next time.”

High scorers in the game
were Bruce McNaughton, with
four goals, and Chris Klouan,
with two goals and an assist.
Singles were added by Ed
Belanger, Lawrence Carlson,
Glen Hampton, and Rob Jee-
ves. Allstar selections were
first, goalie Jamie McCloskey
second, Chris Klouan; third,
Gord Stephanson from Red
River; and fourth, Bruce Mc-
