INSIDE DOUGLAS COLLEGE / DECEMBER 19, 1989 Athletic Update WOMEN’S BASKETBALL Royals women’s basketball team started to regain their old (pre- strike) form Friday by defeating U.B.C. JV’s 78-57. The game was aggressively played by both teams, and at times got quite “chippy”. Top scorers for Douglas were Crys- tal Caldwell with 12, Lorraine Den- nis with 11 & Jana Gibson with 10. The following night Douglas travelled to Skagit Valley College in Washington. After a close half-time score of 34-30 for Skagit, Royals steadily slipped further behind as they were called for many “touch” fouls sending the home team to the foul line and Royal's players to the bench, resulting in a 70-53 defeat for the Royals, Carrie Carlsen had 17 points and Lana Evdokimenko had 13 points. The Douglas Royals vs. U.B.C JV’s game at 8:15 p.m. Dec. 8th was cancelled. 6TH ANNUAL ROYAL CLASSIC WOMEN’S & MEN’S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT December 28 - 29 - 30, 1989 Women’s Teams North Idaho Medicine Hat Edmonds Fraser Valley Clackamus N.A.LT.
