Studies Program, and the identif- ication of program "packages" relating to University Transfer. Two Statements of Intent have been dispatched to the Ministry, subject to future modification and ratification by the Douglas College Board. These are, the Engineering Technology Program, which the Board has already been acquainted with, and also a new Stagecraft Technology proposal. I believe that both of these proposals will be greeted with enthusiasm by the Board when they are presented to the Board in due course for final approval. Summer School is being scheduled at this time. A separate more detailed statement has been made to the Board by a separate document. Three Management Workshops have been scheduled for the next six weeks. One workshop is on Budget Processes, another on the College Annual Administrative Cycle of Activities, and a third is on the Nature of Community Programs in Douglas College, as contrasted to other College activities. These Workshops are all led by our own personnel, and constitute a cont- inuing development activity aimed primarily at our management personnel. Mr. D. McEachern, Director of Social Services and Allied Health, led a workshop last week on the Institutional Self-Study Processes, that has engendered a special administrative meeting, which will be led by Mr. G. DellaMattia on research projects to be undertaken next year. Internal Matters - Labour Relations Two grievances have been received from the Faculty Association over the past month. Both are, I believe, well on their way to resolution. ARCHIVES | MAD HATTER PAGE 12 The Faculty Association, the B.C.G.E.U., and the Student Society have all been very helpful in advising me regarding the Governance System which is being reviewed by the Board tonight. It is a pleasure to acknowledge this assistance. Mr. Gordon Gilgan and Mr. Ed Redmond have been appointed as administrative representatives on the joint Douglas College/Kwantlen College Negotiating Team. With the concurrence and support of the B.C.G.E.U., we have established a Staff Advisory Committee on staff development, who will advise Mr. Robert Sawka or Mr. Cal Barber of our Personnel Office on the nature and content of a program of staff development for the College. The College administration is looking forward to participating actively in this program. Internal Matters - General Since the last Board Meeting, the Fall Graduation has occurred. It was a well organized and successful event. We appreciated the attendance of Mrs. Casher and Mr. Murnane on behalf of the College Board. A very pleasant Hallowe'en Party for staff, faculty and administration was held, and a Christmas Party is now being planned. A very successful Pub Night was held, sponsored by the Student Society on behalf of the United Way Campaign. Members of the College administration and faculty assisted at the Pub Night in order to reduce the overhead expenses. The Pub Night yielded over $600.00 for the United Way, and a very happy side benefit was increased commun- ication between the students and College personnel. We expect that similar events will be occurring in the future. aero DOUGLAS COLLEGE ARCHIV = A
