Hockey game abroad makes for road trip of the year Sports Institute Faculty Programmer and Ottawa native David Munro took in an Ottawa Senators game in Sweden last month. Munro says he’s “the biggest Ottawa Senators hockey fan this side of the Rockies.” So when the opportunity came to watch the Sens take on the Pittsburgh Penguins in Stockholm, Sweden, last month, he jumped at the chance. “It was the road trip of the year, mixed with seeing some old university friends and taking in some of the beauty, history and culture of Sweden,” says Munro. For the record, Munro is still unsure of who to cheer for when the two teams square off on December 28 at GM Place. “With my family roots in Ottawa, the Senators have always been No. 1, though now living in Vancouver, the Canucks are certainly No. 1A.” Photo credit: ishoot.ca The 2008 SEP winners, left to right, back row: Darlene Neilson, Once Upon a Vine (Retail and Entrepreneur of the Year); Ed Lapins, EAL Trucking (Perseverance - tie).
