Extraordinary Listening Congratulations to Tatsuo Hoshina and his superb ensemble in their recent presentation of "The Creation". Before |boughttickets for "The Creation", as a skeptic, | asked Tatsuo if Haydn would be pleased. With an engaging smile on his lips, Tatsuo replied modestly that Haydn would be pleased. Now that I've had the enormous pleasure of hearing and seeing Maestro Hoshina in action hovering over the score, urging his charges on, and co-ordinating in masterful fashion the performance of this demanding work | can say with certainty that Haydn would indeed be pleased. The orchestra, soloists and choral group performed admirably -- they didn't even flinch when a light bulb popped with a sharp, unnerving sound. And they were especially well integrated and outstanding in the glorious close to the Part |, 'The Heavens are Telling.' As a final note, it is clearly evident that the Douglas College performance of "The Creation" was the result of many hours, days, weeks, and months of hard work, dedication, skill and energy of Tatsuo and his performers. My sincere thanks for a very rewarding - evening.
