Dear Dr. Wootton: Please find enclosed copies of the JOHN B. MACDONALD ALUMNI BURSARY ANNOUNCEMENT. The U.B.C. Alumni Association offers 16 bursaries of $350 each, in open competition to students attending B.C. Regional Colleges who will be entering the University of British Columbia in the fall. An applicant must be recommended by the College Principal (or his nominee). Applications will be considered by regional alumni com- mittees which will forward their recommendations to the University Awards Committee for final decision. It is our hope that each of the B.C. Regional Colleges will consider it a challenge to encourage at least one student to apply. (It is up to the student to apply personally for this Bursary). Applicants must complete the U.B.C. Bursary Application Form and supplement the application with two letters of recommendation, one of which should be from the Principal of the College being attended, or his nominee. The application with the required letters of rec- ommendation and transcripts of the applicant's Grade XII and College records must be forwarded together by July 15 to the following address: The John B. Macdonald Bursary Competition, c/o University Awards Com- mittee, Room 207, Buchanan Building, U.B.C. Applications will be judged on the basis of financial need, academic standing, character, personal qualities, and participation on college or community affairs. Only applicants who will enroll at the University of British Columbia this September, and who will be full-time students on a full programme leading to a degree will be eligible.
