The minister was speaking here August 21 at a press conference announcing the donation of $1 million in software and expertise by Richmond- based Prologic Computer Corp. to Douglas College’s new Financial Services Studies Program. The Financial Services Program, which be- gins this fall at Douglas College, Toronto's Humber College and College de Bois-de- Boulogne in Montreal, was initiated by the Institute of Canadian Bankers (ICB). Perry praised both Prologic and ICB for actively supporting "lifelong learning". "This is a very good step in meeting the needs of the whole country, not just one sector," said Perry. The alliance between business and educa- tion brings "workplace reality" into the classroom, said Douglas College Board chairman Myrna Popove. And College Pres- ident Bill Day said the college is "very privileged to be a test bed for the project." The Financial Services Diploma Program will train students for careers in banking and also prepare those already in the field to enter different sectors of the finan- cial industry.
