Baugh stressed, adding "they’re not
absolute rights."

Your Charter rights, he ex-
plains, can be violated if the court
decides it’s reasonably justified in a
free and democratic society.

In the course, Baugh will go
through the Charter, looking at
separate sections and how they
work.

"The Charter seems abstract,"
Baugh says, but is quick to point
out its power. The Charter, afterall,
is the supreme law of Canada.

The course will also cover
human rights acts.

By taking the course Human
Rights and Canadian Society,
Baugh says class participants will
find out "what rights they have and
how to go about asserting them." #

20TH ANNIVERSARY ART SHOW

 
   

 

As part of the Douglas College’s 20th Anniversary celebration, the Douglas
College Art Exhibition Advisory Committee invites B.C. artists to prepare visual
artworks for a juried art exhibition in March 1990. The theme of this exhibit will
be visual representations (in any media) of the artist’s experiences, thoughts, and

impressions of education.

Works to be juried March 12, 5-8 pm in the Douglas College Boardroom.

(All submissions must be made prior to 5:00 p.m.)

Gala reception March 19 in Theatre Foyer Gallery
