S STEWART WOOLVERTON Would-be politician Stew- art Woolverton hopes to ‘raise a lot of questions’ and be an ‘unofficial flack’ in the student society this year. Woolverton appeared to feel cutbacks were well-nigh inevitable. ‘Nobody likes it’’ he equivocated. But ‘govern- ment is going to make cut- backs, come heck or high water.’ But he feels the Douglas College administration ‘should have been able to work out an economic pro- cess to see the least amount of jobs lost and the greatest amount of _ efficiency gained.’ about cutbacks? He suggest- ed the voting process - at the same time admitting the short comings of his sug- gestion. ‘‘Students are not a large enough voting block, as they were perhaps in the sixties’. He plans to protest the removal of Women’s Stu- dies. ‘I’m strongly opposed to discrimination against wo- men. It was a political deci- sion.’’- He also complains, “It’s not responsible to give into government cutbacks as they (the administration) are apparently doing’’, and _in- tends to ‘‘encourage the College Board to take a firm stand against any more cut- backs.’’ “| have a great deal to learn about the governance system and its power and role’’, Moore: admits. This might be illustrated by his statement that the advisory committee ‘‘holds ultimate power at this college over academic planning.’’ As qualitications for the position, Moore mentions his teaching experience and sta- tus as a student.
