Dear Mr. Day; | had the pleasure of attending the Gradu- ation Exercises at Douglas College on Friday, January 13. My purpose for writing is to congratulate you and your faculty for the tremendous success of the event. | have been involved in three graduations...I have never witnessed such unabashed happiness and pride... I noticed particularly how you and the charm- ing lady - the Chair of the Board - greeted each graduate as though each was the only person graduating... A happy ending; my daughter who graduated in Therapeutic Recreation and is the mother of four is now on the permanent full-time staff of the Peace Arch Hospital and loving every minute of her work. Sincerely, Doris C. Munroe Gerry Della Mattia, Dean of Human Resources and College Development, received this letter on February 10, 1993 from the Life Line Society in Burnaby. Dear Mr. Della Mattia: Please convey our sincere thanks to your employees who designated a donation through United Way to the programs at Life Line Society. This past year our Transition Houses sheltered over 300 women and chil- dren in need of protection from violence. We have embarked on an ambitious plan to acquire longer term therapeutic residents for particularly traumatized families. These resi- dences are necessary to offer therapy to children who are victims of physical and sexual abuse, and women who are finding it difficult to break free of the batterer. We will need your ongoing support to help us achieve our goals and I hope that we can count on your contributions. Yours truly, Nancy Butler - Executive Director
