Orchestra is coming to give a concert for the Douglas College community and for neighbouring secondary schools on Sunday, April 8, at 8:00 p-m. in the New Westminster Senior Secondary School Auditorium. This is apparently the first such concert given by the U.B.C. Orchestra in this area and we would strongly urge all to take advantage of the opportunity and support the group. Thank you. RETIRED BUT INSPIRED A new TV program called "Retired but Inspired," is presently being organiz- ed by local retired persons in White Rock and South Surrey. The new show will cover topics of particular interest to persons who have retired and will attempt to demonstrate and discuss through guests each week, ways of staying inspired and active after retirement from full- time employment. Jean Buzan of Douglas College is assisting retired community volun- teers with planning and organizing and Jim Verkerk of Channel 10 will be showing those interested how to operate the cameras and other equip- ment necessary for the show. The show is going to require a good number of people, from "idea" persons and organizers to production crew members. JOB_ OPPORTUNITIES The University of Victoria requires French Language Instructors. As part of its summer session, the University of Victoria requires five instructional personnel for La Maison Francaise, a residential program em- phasizing spoken French. The audio- visual methods De Vive Voix and V.I.F. (Lecons de transition) will be used. All individuals will receive a more detailed description of duties on application for instructional position. Candidates will be bilingual teachers, preferably with experience in the instruction of high school students and of adults at a post-secondary level. Minimum of a B.A. required. A recog- nized V.I.F. or De Vive Voix Diploma or the equivalent is mandatory. Familiar- ity with French-Canadian culture is desired. Salary $2,050.00 for the session, plus travel expenses within Canada. Appointment is from July 2, 1979 to August 18, 1979. Apply before February 28, 1979.
