Santa's Helpers Dozens of families had visits from Santa in 1998, thanks to Douglas College employees and students. Food, toys and clothing were donated by departments and individuals in a variety of ways, some through the Purpose Society, others through the Student Society’s Tree of Need, and yet others through our Financial Aid department, who identified several Douglas College student families in need of support during the holidays. Thanks to everyone who organized these hampers and donations, and also nursing program for head nurses employed by the SSMU, scheduled to begin in 1999. This joint venture will focus on the continuing professional education of nurses, especially in the area of management training. Some of the initiatives involve developing one-month programs at Douglas College for SSMU nurses, offering parts of the College’s nursing curriculum at SSMU, and planning work-studies for Douglas College students, faculty and affiliated health care personnel at SSMU and related agencies. to everyone who donated.
