Team members will be carbo-loading on Friday evening, April 28, at Aldo’s, a local pasta eatery offering a special deal to College runners and walkers. #f College plugging into Internet It’s mid-semester, your students are seeking ways to convert vanadium metal into a compound and they’re having problems. What’s a chemistry instructor to do? For Douglas College’s Bob Browne, a frequent user of a Chemical Education dialogue group on the Internet, the answer was Clear. “T went to the net, typed in the issue, and in half an hour I had a response from someone in the Eastern United States which really helped the students,” says Browne. “The net is an important resource for me. It offers faculty the capacity to explore their disciplines in fresh ways. You can get tired of dealing with the same old stuff in the same old way, so this offers a chance for something new.” As evidenced by the frenzy of news coverage about the Internet, that chance for something new generates Internet continued on page 3
