CO-—OFERATIVE EDUCATION UPDATE OCTOBER, 1985 PAGE 4 - A proposal has been made to the Faculty Association addressing the issue of faculty compensation for their involvement in Co-op. - A brief summary of skill levels and possible types of placements was requested from each program and discipline area as a starting place for determining the feasibility of introducing Co-op jn selected areas. What's Next? We had hoped to place a handful of students in January/86, but it is more likely that the program will get off the ground in a big way in May/86. Our goal is to make approximately 50 placements during this semester primarily, but not exclusively, in the Commerce and Business Administration area. To meet this objective the following will need to take place over the next two months: - appointment of the second Placement Officer, probably by mid-November. - consultation with faculty in individual programs and disciplines to work out a plan for incorporating the Co-op "option" into each area. - student recruitment publicity campaign. - job development "drive" in the community. - solicitation of nominations for Co-op Advisory Committee Program updates will appear in the "Mad Hatter" on a monthly basis in the future.
