Specific Protocols 1) The investigating Committee's activities will be confidential. 2) Although meetings will be conducted in as relaxed an atmos- phere as possible, all proceedings will be directed by and through the Chair. 3) The Committee will give full opportunity to the person(s) making the complaint and the person(s) against whom the complaint is made, to present evidence and arguments orally or in writing. 4) The meetings of the Committee at which evidence and argu- ments are heard will be open only to the person(s) making the complaint and the person(s) complained against. Deliberations of the Committee shall be “in-camera”. 5) Persons appearing before the Committee may be questioned by the person(s) making the complaint, the person(s) com- plained against, and by members of the Committee, but all questioning will be under the direct control of the Chair. 6) A synoptic record will be kept of all proceedings. This confidential record, which is separate from the Committee's final report, will be retained by the Director of Personnel. 7) A written statement outlining the Committee's function(s) and describing its expectations for persons appearing before it, will be provided to all persons asked to supply information or evidence.
