lfFE ana SCYIE Online Ss hopping Spree : Black Milk Clothing and edgy leggings By Stephanie Trembath, Life and Style Editor here are many reasons not to shop online; you cannot try on the clothing, you may not know the sizes, quality of material, shipping costs, etc. I had a disappointing experience last summer when I ordered three Victoria’s Secret swimsuits online; each piece was down to $6.99, and all I had to do was select my style, size, and color. Needless to say, the sizes were way off, nothing fit properly, and the colors I selected were not right. The worst part; shipping the swimsuits back wound up costing more than I paid for the six $6.99 pieces, so my purchases would have cost me double just to get the right sizes and colors. Needless to say, I gave the swimsuits to various friends who fit the pieces I bought, and loved the lime green and salmon pink color selection (I chose purple and a darker green, just for the record). Despite my disastrous experience with VS, I have not stopped shopping online as I truly believe that the benefits of ordering clothes via the internet outweigh the negative factors. For one, you can 10 shop from the comfort of your home (or in-between classes) without the hassle of elbowing competition out of the way in the store. Two, there is no need to try anything on, so you don’t have to worry about staring at your pale naked self in a tiny cubicle while sales attendants bang on the door asking if you need any help. And three, most importantly, you will not be wearing the same outfit or articles as anyone you may run into. Yes, online shopping is risky as you don’t know your proper size or what the clothes look like on, but in my past experiences using a size chart has never guided me wrong, and some companies offer free shipping on all returns (just make sure to check that one out before you purchase!). Black Milk Clothing is my latest online fashion find; I have already ordered two pairs of the shapely leggings designed by James Lillis, Australian fashion designer and edgy fashion advocate. Lillis kick started his career in fashion designing graphic T-shirts in Brisbane, Australia. In 2009, Lillis decided to expand his designer outlet by teaching himself to sew and design women’s tights, just not the usual cotton fabric tights you see in department stores such as American Apparel or Arizia. Lillis’s leggings have been called everything from punk glam, to gothic cult, and are universally known as some of the more enticing designer leggings thanks to his edgy and eclectic designs. Each pair of leggings is hand sewn to seamlessly fit the female figure; tighter around the ankle and smooth across the hips. Ranging in price from $60 - $200, Lillis’s tights are guaranteed to get you noticed when you wear them thanks to the stretch latex material, and funky patterns featured on every pair. If you are looking for leggings that are more versatile and demure, this is not the place to shop; Black Milk clothing is as out- there and funky as leggings come, and look great when paired with a simple black t-shirt or solid coloured crop top. My two recent purchases were the galaxy leggings (because of the crazy pattern), and the black wet look (because black leggings look good with just about anything).
