16 Other Press Telereg Extravaganza! Album Review Vince Nell Exposed reviewed by Niki King-Jocks For those who have missed them - even a little bit - Motley Crue is alive and well, sert-of. Vince Neil’s , new solo al- bum, Exposed, is Motley Crue only bet- ter. In fact while listening to this album | had shades of Dr. Feelgood running through my mind. With the exception to this was the kick-ass guitar playing of Steve Steven’s who is my mind does not even compare to Mick Mars. As al- ways Stephens, one of the great guitar prostitutes of all time, strokes his axe like it will be the last time. Joining Vince and Steve on this CD are Robbie Crane on bass, Vik Foxx.on drums, and Dave Marshall on rhythm gui- tar. This CD has the typical range of heavy metal music that one would expect from a guy like Vince including the sappy heavy metal balled in “Forever”. The recent re- lease off of this album “Sister of Pain” is your typical tune about a hot babe who likes to... well, you can guess by the title what I’m getting at, if you know what | mean. The video of this song features The recent release off of this album “Sister of Pain” is your typical tune about a hot babe who likes to... well, you can guess. Vince’s girlfriend (at the time) dressed in a skimpy leather outfit dancing erotically throughout. It took five cuts of this video before MTV would except it and MUCHMUSIC wouldn't accept it at all. | saw this video and shall | say, cheezy. However as far as it’s not being shown on MUCH because of its sexual nature | have seen far more sex and offensive ma- terial in many Michael Jackson and Ma- donna vids. The girl in “Sister of Pain” is dressed for the Yukon in comparison to Ma- donna in her latest, but then again its only the stuff they don’t like that they censor, right? | think the only prob- lem that the program director didn’t like about this video was the fact that it was heavy metal and not pop stuff. I’m afraid that when it comes to television we are all just slaves to the system but when it comes to the music we want to listen to , we can still (thankfully) exercise our rights. For myself, | will be heading down to my local CD store, purchasing and then lis- tening to this CD over and over again. Most of the films were very funny and they were all strange. The Film Festival was playing at the Ridge Theatre in June. There were about 10 films altogether; these are the ones that stick out in my mind: The Snail - A “Day in the Life of” type movie with great sound effects and back- ground music. The snail tries to cross the street to eat some lettuce which sounds simple enough but when you go at snail’s pace it would be difficult. There is a surprise ending that involves a very large boot... The Kitchen Sink - This movie was about a woman cleaning her sink when she finds a mysterious hair in the drain. She pulls ARTS AND REVIEN Sticky Confusion of Cultures. Huh September 20, and pulls until the hair is a rope-sized attached to a hairy black thing. She was and it grows into a man-sized hairy black For some insane reason the woman sl dresses, puts it in her bed and sleeps By morning it has come to life. The kissing and she notices a mysterious blac on his neck and it all starts over again. The Kiss - The Kiss was a documa - type film on various couples kissing. couples were very shy and others were passionate but most just kissed and loo the camera with goofy looks on their This film was an interesting look at many of couples and I enjoyed it the most bg of the way it portrayed people’s va sexualities, Vo CRAFT: NAKED VOICES TONY REKERT POETRY IN PERFORMANCE FRINGE THEATRE FESTIVAL 199 Vancouver Grunt Gallery 209 E. 6th Ave. 12 SEPT SUN 10:45 13 SEPT MON 10:45 14 SEPT TUE 10:45 18 SEPT SAT 6:45 19 SEPT SUN 6:45
