NurseLRC: Online and on top Last year, the General Nursing Program became the first department in the College to start a listserv. This year, that listserv—created by majordomos Marilyn Lewthwaite, Susan Greathouse, Jeanne Lot, Sandra McKinley, and Rita Buurman— has been recognized for excellence by the Library of Congress. “Tt was an honor to be given this recognition, especially at a Learning Resources Conference,” says Lewthwaite. “But the listserv has been a success since we started it.” NurseLRC is a moderated mailing list prepared for nursing Learning Resource Centre faculty and staff to network online. Now attracting more than 250 subscribers from as far away as Australia, the UK, Japan, China, and even Guam, it’s a place where up-to-the- minute information can be shared. “Lately, postings have focused on interactive video disks in relation to teaching skills, as well as various topics on psychomotor skills aquisition,” Lewthwaite adds. “But NurseLRC is open to other shared experiences, resources, instructional strategies, and questions.” To subscibe to the listserv, send in the body of an e-mail message to: majordomo @ douglas.be.ca. For more information, contact Marilyn Lewthwaite by phone at local 5083 or by e-mail at marilyn_lewthwaite @douglas.bc.ca. ]
