Briefs @® Work-Study projects sought The student placement office is seeking submissions for student work-study projects to begin this fall. The provincially-funded work-study pro- gram provides part-time employment to full-time students, who may be employed at the college or off-campus with a non- profit organization. Projects should allow students to develop career-related skills and should be one- time (non-repeating), and not part of the normal work of a department. Students qualify on the basis of financial need and work between 5 to 15 hours a week, depending on their assessed need. Project applications are available at the student placement office, Room 2710. Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, June 30. %® George Wootton scholarship nominations Nominations are being accepted until June 15 for two George Wootton scholarships to be awarded to graduating Douglas Col- lege students. The two $450 prizes honour George Wootton, the first president of Douglas College and are designed to recognize the academic achievements of students upon completion of a college program. Candidates from the December 1991 or June 1992 graduating classes must be nominated by a student, staff or faculty member. Nominees must have shown superior scho- lastic ability and significant participation in college and community activities. Letters of recommendation are due in the student finance office by Monday, June 15. @® Bachelor of Music: apply soon The music department is now accepting applications for the Bachelor of Music and Basic Musicianship programs. Auditions for the Bachelor of Music program are set for August 14 and 15. Call 527-5495 for more details. @® Three Acting Deans named Gordon Gilgan, Dean of Academic Division will be absent from the College until the begin- ning of August while he takes a combined educational leave and annual vacation.
