ADVANCE ANNOUNCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR FOREIGN ASSIGNMENTS Final negotiations are underway with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) by which the B.C. Ministry of Education will contract to manage Phase II development of the Samarinda Forestry Vocational Training Center in Indonesia. With several of the Phase I programs now operating successfully under Indonesian instructors and administrators most of the Canadian advisors have returned to Canada. As a consequence extension of the project into a broader range of training programs for occupations related to wood product secondary industries is now in final planning stages between CIDA and the Government of Indonesia. The purpose of this early announcement is to provide maximum lead time for those interested and some basic information about the postings. “POSITIONS TO BE FILLED 1. Field Manager Required in Indonesia by July 1, 1982. Administrative and previous foreign experience preferred. Two year assignment. 2. Curriculum Development _and Instructor Training Advisor Required in Indonesia by: July 1, 1982 One year assignment with possible extension. 3. Instructor/Technical Advisors Required in Indonesia by September 1, 1982 Two year assignments - Millwright — - Saw Doctor - Industrial Electricity/Electronics - Pipefitting — j - Millwork and Joinery a. Instructor/Technical Advisors Several short term experts will be required to supplement the above group and to upgrade Phase I courses. THE PROJECT Some three years ago CIDA requested the assistance of the B.C. Ministry of Education to supply experts for the development of this forestry occupations training school located in Samarinda, East Kalimantan on the Island of Borneo. Despite a number of set backs and difficulties the project is successful and now provides the people of Indonesia with a model for training new entry workers in the forestry and supportive trades. Known as Phase I this three year development period established
