munities of north Vancouver
Island through a number of
centres and a highly developed
combination of traditional,
open and distance education
systems. In 1989, the College
enrolled over 10,000 full and
part-time students in academic,
vocational, career, technology
and basic education programs.
In addition, the College delivers
non-credit and general interest
courses in the communities of
the six school districts that
comprise the College region.
The College is in the midst of an
$11 million construction project
in Courtenay to consolidate its
facilities and to accommodate
expanded programs in the
Comox Valley. Improved
facilities are also being planned
for Campbell River and Port
Alberni. The annual operating
budget for the College is
approximately $11 million.

The College is committed to
meeting the educational needs
of the region and the new Presi-
dent will play a leadership role
in building long-term, effective
partnerships to capitalize on
the resources of the area. As
well as driving the strategic
planning process for the
College, the President will be
responsible for the develop-
ment, marketing and effective
delivery of programs to meet

 

the needs of the marketplace.

The ideal candidate will
have a post-graduate degree
and will have had significant
experience as a Senior ad-
ministrator in a post-secon-
dary institution. Additional
experience in a private or
public sector organization
would be an asset. You have
an in-depth understanding
and appreciation of academic
and vocational education. You
are a creative, innovative
leader with a strong commit-
ment to the community college
system and are excited about
taking an active role in making
the College an integral part of
the communities it serves.
