TO: DOUGLAS COLLEGE BOARD April 9, 1987. - “@ = I have been informed by the Douglas/Kwantlen Faculty Association that a faculty grievance has been moved to the third stage. A student complaint regarding an instructor is still in the process of being finally dealt with. A report with recommendation has been received from the examining committee. Final decision in the matter is expected in the immediate future. A report has been received recently from the Manager of Systems & Computing, regarding the ongoing conversion of Douglas College clerical and management systems, to an electronic base. The report, tabled at Management Committee, describes plans for the gradual implementation of a word processing system, based on our new Data General Minicomputer, which is in the process of being “worked in" at this time. The report was very thorough, and has paid a commendable amount of attention to the need for proper training and orientation of staff, as well as careful introduction of new systems. I am confident that this change will be carried out with care and consideration for the personnel involved. It will provide the opportunity for more interesting ways of working for our clerical personnel, and an enhanced level of service for our students, faculty, and administration over the next few years.
